An introduction

A wide array of social, political, economic, environmental, and health related challenges are increasingly impacting communities and people around the nation and the world. Especially troubling is that these challenges are disproportionately falling on the shoulders of those who were already under stress and feeling disconnected from the communities in which they live. Thankfully, many community leaders and change agents are aggressively and thoughtfully working to address these challenges and the impacts they are having on their cities, towns, and citizens. This work includes finding partners and collaborators who can help them promote and encourage the changes necessary to truly realize a more fully inclusive, engaging, and vibrant community for ALL . RebelWerks seeks to be one of those partners and collaborators.

At RebelWerks, we are dedicated to using the power of public art as a positive catalyst in helping accelerate a community’s process of building and sustaining inclusive, engaged, and vibrant communities. 

To do this, we use unique and powerful works of visual art, created and/or exhibited in public places, to inspire audiences to use their capacity kindness, compassion, and generosity (i.e., “Acts of Humanity” ) to support improving the quality of life of others. We believe that these acts of humanity play an essential role in supporting positive and productive community change; change that can truly help create communities that can be fully experienced and enjoyed by all.

Those of us here at RebelWerks, along with our global network of “Artful Rebels”, are “Artivists”.  We believe in the power of public art and its ability to engage and inspire community audiences in meaningful ways that promote positive change. We strive to bring this power of public art into an array of collaborative partnerships with community leaders and change agents who , like us, are working tirelessly to build a stronger , more inclusive, engaged, and vibrant communities for ALL.
